Dr. Harrison Batting for Charter Schools at the SBE meeting
The NC Alliance for Public Charter Schools had the pleasure to have Board Chair of the State Board of Education, Dr. William Harrison, invigorate the crowd with his opening remarks at our state conference a week ago. Yesterday, August 1, 2012, Dr. Harrison provided positive comments on charter schools, the Charter School Advisory Council and the reality that charter schools are here to stay and provide a positive and competitive choice to traditional schools. On behalf of the NC Alliance for Public Charter Schools I commend Dr. Harrison.

The North Carolina SBE reviewed 25 new charter school applications yesterday – they will make their decision to approve or deny in early September. Discussion centered around process, LEA impact statements and saturation of charter schools – roll eyes here. The NC Alliance is working to increase the quality of these videos so members can see these proceeding for themselves. Please stay tuned…

Members of the NC Alliance can purchase NCWrite for $7.00 per student. We also want to extend a discount to our Non-NC Alliance charter schools for $10.00 per student – still significant savings!
