What is New About Testing and Accountability?
You must not miss the Director of Accountability Services for NC DPI, Dr. Tammy Howard’s presentation of the detailed breakdown of the many changes that will impact charter school students and teachers regarding next year’s testing at the Charter Schools Conference in July.
Attendees at the 2012 N.C. Charter School conference will be able to get a first-hand overview of the sweeping changes that are in the works for 2012-13 accountability measures. New tests, new formulae, new delivery – it will all be descending upon us this upcoming year.
Coupled with the new mandated performance criteria in the charter school law, testing will have new meaning for boards, administrators, and teachers.
Dr. Howard joins Dr. Bill Harrison, State Superintendent June Atkinson, State House Speaker Thom Tillis and an array of expert presenters who will discuss the topics in which our members have expressed interest in our recent survey.
For her discussion on accountability, Dr. Howard has shared the following abstract:
In 2012-13, North Carolina will implement new assessments in English language arts, mathematics, and science as well as a new accountability model. Information on the new item types, the transition to online delivery, and the READY accountability model design will be presented. Also included will be an overview of the transition to the SMARTER Balanced Consortium’s Assessments, slated for 2014-15.
